                 Bayer Advance No. 700288a 5m Soil/Turf Insect Control.

This is my third season for using this insect control for my lawn. For the customers willing too spend the extra couple dollars per bag they see the difference in their lawns compared to other products. I've been using Bayer lawns products since 2002, and I'm very happy with all the results I get.

This Bayer Turf and soil insect control comes in a ten pound bag and roughly covers 5,000 square feet. This is if you go by their directions. It really depends on how bad you have those nasty insects. But remember this, for every bad bug you kill using this product you're also killing the good bugs.

If you see your grass turning brown and in a circle get a knife and cut at least 4 inches down. Peel the grass and roots back. Look and see if there is a white curled bug there, that is a Grub. The best time to use this product is in a early Spring like late March or Early April when Grubs lay hundreds if not thousand of eggs about six inches deep in your lawn. Best time to apply this product is 24 to 36 hours before a light rain. This way is soaks slowly and deep in your lawn. Honestly from my own experience I use more of this product to get a complete kill of these insects. They asked for you to use this product on number 3 on your spreader. I personally use number 5 to get more on the lawn and to thoroughly cover it.

Works above ground to kill fleas, ticks, ants, chinch bugs, cutworms & many other bugs that infest on top of your lawn.  Works below ground To kill grubs, mole crickets,  crane flies both domestic and European, kills all those surface insects on contact.

This Bayer Advanced Truf/Soil Insect control last almost the 90 days they boast on. I have seen ant colonies start to reproduce again after 60 days. But I highly recommend this product if you have dogs that run on your property because it does do the job of keeping away fleas and ticks for the better part of the 90 days.


Active Ingredients Beta-Cyfluthrin is know to cause problems in breathing if inhaled and stomach viruses. It is best to buy a $2.00 pack of mouth and nose protector respirators. Also because of the dryness of the powdery pellets, I would suggest safety glasses. Another safety precaution, don't spread this product on a windy day.  The most widely used applications for Imidaclopridis in California are pest control in structures, turf pest control, grape growing, and head and leaf lettuce growing. Other target insects include sucking insects aphids,white-flies, leafhoppers and plant-hoppers, beetles, termites, locusts and bees. Imidacloprid is also in use for pets such as K9-Advantix.

Overall: This Bayer product will achieve great success in your lawn by killing all those unwanted bugs. I try not to think of the good bugs or insects that this product kills to like worms, brown ants, snails, caterpillars, butterflies, lighting bugs, praying mantis, etc.

Warning: Using this product around pets. I would wait at least 24 hours to let my dogs run on the grass. Let this product work it's way into your lawn first.
