Pros Williams - hands down!
Cons Some slow parts
Recommended it? Yes

Finally, a Viet Nam movie where you don't have to cringe in horror wondering what atrocity you will have to view next. Well, other than Williams rolling his trademark ?Good Morning, Viet Nam' over the airways every morning. Once again Robin Williams proves there is more to him than the ability to... "Rockin' it from the Delta to the DMZ!"

Pros Robin Williams best comedic performance and some of the best movie one-liners ever.
Cons What? This is Good Morning Vietnam. No cons at all!
Recommended it? Yes

Good Morning Vietnam was one of the first mature films that I saw at a young age. I loved it then and I like it even more now that I can appreciate some of the more adult humor.

What I especially liked about it then were the very quotable lines throughout the film. Those lines still sound... Read full review »

Pros Robin Williams all the way.
Cons Not exactly an accurate portrayal of Adrian Cronauer, or the Vietnam War
Recommended it? Yes

You don't know HOW long I've wanted to use a title like this one. It's been wanting to burst out since I saw this movie for the twelfth time just recently.

Scene from the Kidden household, early morning:

Hugh (me): "Gooooooood morning, Mrs. Constant Leigh Kidden!"

Maybe Good Morning Vietnam is like one of those pictures where you have to look at in just the right way before the picture is revealed.
Unfortunately, Like poor Mr Pitt I am unable to see the picture in Good Morning Vietnam.

This is a movie which turned me off (somewhat in conjunction... Read full review »

Pros Robin William's most memorable comic performance, great supporting cast,
Cons None that I am aware of at this time
Recommended it? Yes

"Good Morning Vietnam" is one of the defining movies of the 1980's. This is also a time when the product that Mr. Robin Williams brought to us was top notch. In perhaps his most memorable performance, Williams plays Adrian Cronauer, a radio shock jock stuck right in the middle of the Vietnam War... Read full review »

The only way I see a lot of war movies is if my dad's watching them. And one day my dad was watching this movie, so I decided to watch. This one was very entertaining.

This story is based on the real-life Adrian Cronauer, who Robin Williams plays. Set in the year 1965, Adrian is imported... Read full review »

Director Barry Levinson has really done a very fantastic job in directing this very tamed war movie. He has really directed the scenes very well here. This movie has alot of humor in it and this makes it very pleasant to watch. It may be slow at times, but it is a very well done movie.

"Good Morning Viet Nam" Good for Williams' Fans.

Pros Robin Williams. Need I say more?
Cons Rent this rather than cable watch it - editing will be excessive.

1965 Saigon was pretty grim. Along comes Adrian Cronauer, a free-thinking, quick-witted, ascerbic disc jockey who tries to infuse not only Rock 'N Roll but political humour into the Vietnamese War. Thwarted at every turn by his superiors ("You are not funny, you are a maniac!"), he nonetheless... Read full review »

Good Morning Vietnam (special Edition)

Set in 1965; Produced and released in 1987.In GOOD MORNING, VIETNAM, which is based on a true story, Cronauer (Robin Williams) is a nonconformist with a wicked sense of humor who is transferred from Crete to Saigon. Outrageous and over the top, Cronauer speaks in accents, creates characters, pokes fun at everyone-- including the President--and spins banned rock and roll tunes. While his antics amuse the masses, they also put him in hot water with his superior officers, particularly Lt. Steven Hauk (Bruno Kirby), who would prefer that the radio show be censored, sanitized, and completely noncontroversial. Cronauer takes his show outside the radio station when he starts to teach Vietnamese locals English in an effort to meet pretty, demure Trinh (Chintara Sukapatana). He befriends Trinh's brother, Tuan (Tung Thanh Tran), who becomes an unlikely comrade in uncertain times. Directed by Barry Levinson (DINER, AVALON), the film features a tour-de-force performance from Williams, who improvised much of the comedy use

Good Morning Vietnam [VHS]

Academy Award(R)-winner Robin Williams shakes up 1965 Saigon in the role critics agree he was born to play -- irreverent, nonconformist deejay Adrian Cronauer. Imported by the Army for an early a.m. radio show, Cronauer blasts the formerly staid, sanitized airwaves with a constant barrage of rapid-fire humor and the hottest hits from back home. The G.I.s love him -- but the brass is up in arms! Riddled with sidesplitting comic bombshells and studded with hot '60s hits, the film depicts Cronauer's raucous Saigon adventures amid a world gone mad. GOOD MORNING VIETNAM is a direct hit -- the classic Robin Williams comedy!
