Panacea 18" Cast Iron Grate

Panacea Products Corporation, 18 inch Black, Cast Iron Grate is a tapered, free standing apparatus assembled using robust cast iron material.

For many years our fireplace was the only source of heat for our house. I became pretty adept at building a pretty good fire in that fireplace. I believe that a very good grate is essential for building a better fire; we tried various grates before discovering Panacea Products Corporation, 18 inch Black, Cast Iron Grate.

While I no longer build many fires; allergies and poor source for woods here in this area have forced us to give up fireplace, my Panacea Cast Iron Grate was a dandy during many lovely fires.

Trying to build a fire flat on the floor of the fireplace was always a challenge; using my Panacea fireplace grate lifted wood up off the floor, creating the draft needed as air circulated beneath the logs; the fire produced was nice and hot, burned efficiently and assured that smaller bits of burning wood fell through the grid onto coals below causing fire to burn up from the bottom as it should for optimum heat and blaze.

I found my Panacea Products Corporation, 18 inch Black, Cast Iron Grate facilitated fire building, keeping the blaze going and creating the blaze desired by cradling cut logs. I began with smaller diameter pieces, added large diameter once the fire was well underway, and did not worry that round faced logs might roll out of the fireplace and onto the floor below.

Unfortunately, prior to purchase of my Panacea Products Corporation, 18 inch Black, Cast Iron Grate I did use a number of lesser quality built grates, none were satisfactory, burned through quickly causing the grate to tilt, and dump flaming wood. That was hair raising to say the least. Wood available here in our area is various types of deciduous wood yard type materials.

In California I bought and burned much Almond wood from our local wood yard, we lived in an area of Almond orchards. I generally ordered one cord of oak and 3 of Almond. Unfortunately here in this area mixed types of wood are the norm, didn’t see any Almond, to which I have no allergy and finally realized giving up fireplace was a must. Drat.

I found that using Panacea’s durable, one piece Cast Iron Grate raised the burning material off the floor of the fireplace not only created a longer burning and hotter fire but also helped waft smoke and fumes up and through the chimney rather than filling the room air with smoke.
