I thought that after writing about the Kreepy Krauly system, I should write about it's replacement. The Sta-Rite Great White 9500 is the one my husband and I chose. This was with the help of our pool guy. He has taken care of our needs for the past 11 years.
The reason he recommended it for us, was that he genuinely believes it to be a better product.
It is so easy to install. Simply take the cleaner from the box and attach the hose to it. This is then put in the pool and the end into the filtration system. This was where we had a minor problem. There are 2 hoses. One large one and a smaller one. Our pool needed both hoses, however they were coiled round in the box. When we watched the system working we noticed that it continued to coil and would not reach the outer corners. A call to my pool guy and the problem was resolved. We stretched the hose straight for a day. Put in back into the pool and it has worked fine since. With a small pool, only one hose would be necessary.
This cleaner is designed for either fiberglass, vinyl or gunite surfaces. It has a 15 inch wide cleaning area as it moves along. I just love to watch it working. After it has taken one path it will stop and spin on the spot. This turning mechanism ensures it cleans every inch of the pool. We have a love seat and also steps. No other system has ever been able to clean them. Well, this one is not perfect, but it does it's best.
My cats are amazed when it climbs up the sides. They try to attack it and think it is a toy.
In the summer months I have the pool on a timer, but in the winter I have it on heat. The main problem I find with the Sta-Rite system is at night. My solar blanket tends to keep the heat in the pool, but when it dips down below the 80 degree mark the system starts up. I do not hear it until it reaches the surface. Then, boy oh boy, does it make a noise. It kept me awake to begin with. I must have got tuned into it over the months, but it can be very annoying.
Yes, I love this system. It keeps my pool cleaner than my last one. It has rows of bristles to lift the dirt and the vacuum takes away both the small and large debris. It also comes with a UniDapt telepole adapter for spot cleaning. I am pleased to say that this system is so good I have not needed to use this.
I have had this product for about a year now and I totally forget that it is working. My pool always looks wonderful. It comes with a two year warranty on both the cleaner and hose.
When I purchased it the price was $349 with a $35 mail in rebate. I thought that this was a great price for the newer technology.
