Yes
The Bottom Line:
Keep your garden hose out of sight and neatly wound. Lots of great features. Affordable.
I saw the Suncast SMT200 at my local Lowe's but I wondered how well it would hold up. I was concerned about leaks, plastic parts, etc. I searched the internet, but could not find very many reviews on this item.
I decided to take the plunge and buy one for $45.00. It is money well spent!
There are many hose reels on the market ranging from $20 to well over $100. I really like this one because the hose is concealed in a nice looking storage box. The Smart Trak feature is great! Basically, it consists of a round opening that the hose pases through on the front of the box. As you reel the hose up, the Smart Trak is driven by gears which move it across the front opening of the box and your hose is reeled up neatly and evenly! No "lumps" of hose on one side or the other. No more tangled knots in the hose, just pull it out, use it, and reel it back up, neatly out of sight.
The little amount of assembly required takes about 1-2 minutes. It involves connecting the supplied 8 foot hose from the side of the box to your water faucet. Next you connect the end of your hose to the outlet mounted on the hose reel. After that, just reel your hose up! Simple! (One note - it will work best if you make sure the round Smart Trak guide is on the left side of the box before reeling. This will let your hose wind smoother.)
Another neat feature is that the rear of the box is on wheels. When winter arrives, simply undo the hose from the faucet and roll the box (hose and all) away to a shed or other sheltered place for the cold months. Quick and easy!
There are no problems with using the Smart Trak Hose Reel, just a couple of things to get used to. First, since the hose feeds out the front of the box, it is best to pull it straight forward when pulling it out to use. Pulling at an angle will move the box a little (not a big problem.) It's also a good idea to pull the hose out smoothly instead of jerking it out quickly (again to prevent the box from moving.)
I got fed up with my wall mounted hose hangar making my hose a knotted, tangled mess and I'm glad I invested in the Suncast Smart Trak SMT200!
