Valentine's Day Movies for Guys and Gals Guide

Have you ever wondered about the "true story" behind Cinderella?  In Ever After, Drew Barrymore is smart, strong, independant and not waiting for any prince to come save her. It is more like she saves Prince Charming, showing him a part of his kingdom that he has never seen before, and what he can do to make it better.  Best of all they like real people, don't live "happily ever after" but they did "ever after." 

Breakfast at Tiffany's, is a classic featuring Audrey Hepburn, George Peppard, and Patricia Neal is "an oldie but a goodie."  Holly "goes lightly" through her world flitting from this idea to that, this friend to that all the time fighting what her heart really wants.  In "Fred" she finds that love comes in all sizes, even ones with a teeny tiny bank account.  There is no better scene in romantic movies than the two of them finding "Cat" and each other. 

Nicholas Cage and Cher may seem an unlikely couple to you, but in Moonstruck you may be struck but the hard hitting chemistry that they try to fight.  Cher is amazing as she goes from dowdy, overworked, "spinster" to sexy and sassy with Nicholas Cage brooding and dark by her side, all with "bella luna" causing havoc for both of their very volatile Italian families. 

The Notebook, based on the bestselling book by Nicholas Sparks, has love conquering all as poor man and rich girl fall in love. Of course her family has other plans for her but she decides on her own which man will be "the one." 




                      

True Lies are "romantic?"  They are when secret agent Arnold Schwarzenegger believes his wife is having an affair, only to find out that she just needs a little excitement in her life.  But she may get more than she bargained for as Harry and Helen embark on an adventure to save America from terrorist, rescue their child and find out what am amazing "team" they can be together.  There are enough fight and blow 'em up scenes to keep the guys happy (not to mention the famous pole dance) while everyone can enjoy the romance that even a experienced marriage can spark. 

Bull Durham baseball and romance all in one movie?  Add to that sexy Susan Surandon, cutie Kevin Costner and you have a match made in -- well the dugout.  This romantic movie is an American as apple pie or maybe in this case popcorn. 

Titanic starring Leonardo DiCarprio  has it all; action, adventure, million dollar scenes and special effects and poor boy/rich girl drama.  Who doesn't want to feel like "the king of the world?" 

You've lost that lovin' feeling . . . may not be the best way to pick up a girl in a bar especially when sung slightly off tune, but add a roomful of naval aviators to it and even tough girl "Charlie" at least lets Maverick save face in front of his friends.  Not much is slow about this romantic action and adventure and be ready to go mach 10 with your sound system all the way to maybe what could be the "danger zone"  or it will be if you don't lock the doors to make sure the kids stay out of the room.   Top Gun rates top ratings even with the guys when revisiting romance and adventure.
